North, authored by Giuseppe Ribaudo, is a traditional quilt with a modern slant, pairing classic compass blocks with a sharp, saber-toothed edge. This pattern uses the foundation paper piecing technique. It includes block templates, detailed foundation paper piecing instructions and a coloring page.
Quilt size: 54″ x 54″, but the pattern is easily modified to meet your needs.
30-35 fat quarters in a range of colors plus 8.5 yards of background fabric for generous cutting as specified in the cutting chart. Less background fabric is needed if you have experience with foundation paper piecing and are comfortable with smaller cut sizes. Add an additional 3.5 yards for backing and 1/2 yard for binding.
The cover quilt is shown in 35 different woven solid fabrics from the Kaleidoscope collection by Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics. The background is Kaleidoscope in Iris. If you are wanting this sort of variety, fat quarter sets work well. This is also a great quilt for prints and scraps.
