Description

Foundation paper piecing is a great method for precise sewing without the need for exact cutting. Ventana, part of the Skill Builder Series, teaches this technique through one very simple block. Color illustrations, the template, a coloring sheet for layout planning and detailed instructions for foundation paper piecing are included. This fat eighth friendly pattern is by Nydia Kehnle and Alison Glass.

Hello and welcome to the Alison Glass Sew "Skill Builder Series."  This series is designed to build your skills as quilters.  Each pattern in the series teaches an important quilting skill, allowing you to learn, practice and master it through the creation of a beautiful handmade quilt.

Vendana teaches Foundation Paper Piecing with a top press technique.  This is a great method for getting precise blocks without the need for tedious and exact cutting.  The pattern includes a block template, a block map you can color to plan your layout and detailed instructions with full color illustrations.  This pattern is fat eighth friendly!

The finished size of the quilt as shown on the cover is 50" x 60".  However, the size is easily adjusted by adding or subtracting blocks.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS:
  Foreground = 30 fat eighths or a total of 4 yards
     The cover quilt uses 30 different prints.
  Background = 3 yards
  Backing = 4 yards
  Binding = 3/4 yards

TOOLS:
  Thin copy or Foundation paper
  Printer/Copier
  Sewing machine with adjustable stitch length
  Rotary cutter, rulers and cutting mat
  Add-a-Quarter ruler, optional but helpful
  Iron/Ironing surface
  Thread
